I believe that living well starts with good health and good health starts with eating well. Unfortunately, for many families, this essential activity that should be enjoyable and relaxing time spent together is anything but. I started “A Personable Chef” personal chef service to help families regain both the health benefits of home cooked food and the time to enjoy it.
I started cooking in elementary school and have never stopped. All through high school and college I enjoyed trying new recipes and testing them out my friends and family. After studying political science at The Colorado College, I decided to take a couple of years off to figure out what I wanted to do. I took a job in a kitchen to pay the bills. What I discovered was that cooking was what I wanted to do. I quickly rose through the restaurant ranks and got my first executive chef position at the age of 25. For the last 15 years I have worked in restaurants, serving as the executive chef and general manager of several of Colorado Springs’ finest restaurants, including five years at The Blue Star.
Recently, I decided that my life and health were more important than my career. I loved being a chef and running restaurants, but I did not love the sixty hour work weeks or working nights and weekends. After teaching some cooking classes for my friends, I tried to find a way to use my love of food and wine outside of the restaurant world. This led me to the new and growing personal chef industry.
I now have the best of both worlds. I still get to cook for people and I have a life of my own; a healthy and balanced life. I can’t change your life, but using my services instead of eating in restaurants, or out of a box is one step in restoring health and balance in your life.
